Upon hearing Polly's cries for help, Underdog races to the her aid by burrowing down into the Earth and reaching the lair of the Mole Men. King Mange unleashes the Mole-hole gun on him, but it only slows him, but does not bore a hole into him. King Mange then aims at his feet and Underdog falls into the craters the gun makes, but still continues his advance. Seeing Underdog punch each of the gun's projectiles away and moving closer, Mange releases the giant ant. Although Underdog fights valiantly, his fight with the Molehole gun weakened him, and finally succumbs to the giant ant. Both he and Polly are placed in a cage with a giant caterpillar, where they are wrapped in a cocoon.
