Allison suggests that Connie is interested in Elliot. Paul suggests that 18 is a ""magic number"" since Allison is 18, Elliot has served 18 years in prison, Connie has been widowed 18 years, and Paul's sister has been dead 18 years. Elliot grabs Paul and threatens him. Betty and Allison have coffee and hot chocolate at the soda fountain in Hanley's drugstore.
